ACS Studio Prize 2019 Winner
The following Terms & Conditions relate to the Artists' Collecting Society (ACS) Studio Prize.

ACS Studio Prize Terms & Conditions
The artist covenants that any application and artwork submitted to the Artists’ Collecting Society Studio Prize 2023 must agree with the following:
- Competition open to all UK and EEA nationals worldwide only.
- Only one entry per person is permitted
- All artwork entered into the competition remains 100% copyright of the artist
- An entrant can enter new or existing work
- All artwork must be 100% original copyright owned by the artist and must not use any third party copyright material
- All artwork can be used in marketing and advertising the competition by the Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS) and third parties
- Entrants must give permission for their names and photographs to be used for publicity
- Entrants must be a visual artist who works in pictures, collage, painting, sculpture, tapestry, ceramics, glassware or photography
By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to these terms and conditions:
- Entrants must be a UK or EEA national who has the right to remain in the UK for the year 2024
- Entrants must be a university student on an undergraduate or postgraduate art course who is about to graduate, or has graduated from a university art course within the last four years
- Entrants understand that if they need to alter their proposed plan(s) in any way, they must inform the Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS) team in advance or as soon as possible. Alterations that fundamentally change the nature of the proposal may result in ineligibility for the award
- If granted the award, the artist agrees to acknowledge receipt of the award from ACS
- Entrants agree for the receipt of any award to be reported on and used for publicity
- Entrants agree to provide a short report in the tenth month of the ACS residency
- Entrants agree to be interviewed for the ACS website
- Entrants must be the original creator of the artwork
- Entrants must own the copyright in the entirety of the artwork
- Entrants shall provide the artwork according to the artwork delivery specifications set out in the ACS entry form
- Payment for the prize winner will be £6,000.00 to be used towards an artist’s studio space for one year only
- Payment will be made directly to the studio
- The judges’ decision will be final and accepted by all entrants and no correspondence will be entered into over this decision
- Entries for the ACS Studio Prize 2023 close on 30 June 2023
- We aim to make the final decision and announce the winner by week beginning 19 September 2023
- If you are selected as a finalist, you agree that select portfolio works will be available to display as part of the group exhibition hosted at the Gurr Johns exhibition space between Tuesday 19 September and Friday 22 September 2023
- You agree to deliver the works on or prior to Monday 18 September from 13.00 for installation at the Gurr Johns London exhibition space at 16 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5LU
- You agree to collect the selected works on Tuesday 26 September
- Due to space and budget limitations works collected are loaned at your own risk and ACS x Gurr Johns discretion
- Inadequately packed works will not be accepted
- Neither ACS nor Gurr Johns accepts liability for any costs associated with failed collection or delivery attempts. Costs associated with failed collection or delivery attempts will be passed on to you
- No liability for damage or loss will be covered by ACS or Gurr Johns
- If you win the competition you must be available to begin the residency of the studio space no later than 30 November 2023
- No responsibility can be accepted by ACS for entries not received for whatever reason
- The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable. The prize is subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice
- ACS reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a Force Majeure or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of ACS’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by ACS
- ACS is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant or by any third party connected with this competition
- The entrant must be aged 18 or over. Proof of nationality and age may be required
- Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification
- Entries that are incomplete, illegible or indecipherable will not be valid and deemed void
- All entries must be made directly by the person entering the competition
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed in the post, or due to computer error in transit
- The prize is, as stated, not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered
- The winner is responsible for expenses and arrangements not specifically included in the prize, including any necessary travel documents, passports and visas
- The prize does not include travel insurance, the cost of transfers to and from airports or stations, food and drink, spending money, tax or personal expenses. Any other costs incurred in addition to those set out above and that are incidental to the fulfilment of the prize are the responsibility of the finalists and the winner
- ACS reserves the right to amend or alter the terms of the competition at any time and reject entries from entrants not entering into the spirit of the competition
- Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted, or is unable to comply with these terms and conditions, ACS reserves the right to offer the prize to the runner-up selected by the judges
- Confirmation of the prize will also be made in writing to the winner
- Failure to respond and/or provide an address, or failure to meet the eligibility requirements may result in forfeiture of the prize
The artist covenants that any artwork submitted to the Artists’ Collecting Society Studio Prize 2023 shall not violate any of the following:
- Be false or misleading
- Be fraudulent or involve the sale of counterfeit, stolen or infringing items
- Infringe or misappropriate any third party’s copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary right or rights of publicity or privacy
- Violate any law, statue, ordinance or regulation
- Be defamatory, libellous, unlawfully threatening, or providing assistance involving violence, significant risk of injury or death, or other unlawful activities
- Must not contain child pornography
