The following Terms & Conditions relate to the Artists' Collecting Society (ACS) Studio Prize.

ACS Studio Prize Terms & Conditions


The artist covenants that any artist and artwork submitted to the Artists’ Collecting Society Studio Prize 2022 must agree with the following:


  1. Competition open to all UK and EEA nationals worldwide only

  2. Only one entry per person is permitted

  3. All artwork entered into the competition remains 100% copyright of the artist

  4. An entrant can enter new or existing work

  5. All artwork must be 100% original copyright owned by the artist and must not use any third party copyright material

  6. All artwork can be used in marketing and advertising the competition by the Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS) and third parties

  7. Entrants must give permission for their names and photographs to be used for publicity

  8. Entrants must be a visual artist who works in pictures, collage, painting, sculpture, tapestry, ceramics, glassware or photography


By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to these terms and conditions:


  1. Entrants must be a university student on an undergraduate or postgraduate art course who is about to graduate, or has graduated from a university art course within the last four years

  2. Entrants understand that if they need to alter their proposed plan(s) in any way, they must inform the Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS) team in advance or as soon as possible. Alterations that fundamentally change the nature of the proposal may result in ineligibility for the award

  3. If granted the award, the artist agrees to acknowledge receipt of the award from ACS

  4. Entrants agree for the receipt of any award to be reported on and used for publicity

  5. Entrants agree to provide a short report in the tenth month of the ACS residency

  6. Entrants agree to be interviewed for the ACS website

  7. Entrants must be the original creator of the artwork

  8. Entrants must own the copyright in the entirety of the artwork

  9. Entrants shall provide the artwork according to the artwork delivery specifications set out in the ACS entry form

  10. Payment for the prize winner will be £4,500.00 to be used towards an artist’s studio space for one year only

  11. Payment will be made directly to the studio

  12. The judges’ decision will be final and accepted by all entrants and no correspondence will be entered into over this decision

  13. Entries for the ACS Studio Prize 2022 close on 30 June 2022

  14. We aim to make the final decision and announce the winner by the end of July 2022

  15. If you win the competition you must be available to begin the residency of the studio space no later (COVID-19 pandemic permitting) than 30 September 2022

  16. No responsibility can be accepted by ACS for entries not received for whatever reason

  17. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable. The prize is subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice

  18. ACS reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a Force Majeure or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of ACS’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by ACS

  19. ACS is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant or by any third party connected with this competition

  20. The entrant must be aged 18 or over. Proof of nationality and age may be required

  21. Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification

  22. Entries that are incomplete, illegible or indecipherable will not be valid and deemed void

  23. All entries must be made directly by the person entering the competition

  24. No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed in the post, or due to computer error in transit

  25. The prize is as stated, is not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered

  26. The winner is responsible for expenses and arrangements not specifically included in the prize, including any necessary travel documents, passports and visas

  27. The prize does not include travel insurance, the cost of transfers to and from airports or stations, food and drink, spending money, tax or personal expenses. Any other costs incurred in addition to those set out above and that are incidental to the fulfilment of the prize are the responsibility of the winner

  28. ACS reserves the right to amend or alter the terms of the competition at any time and reject entries from entrants not entering into the spirit of the competition

  29. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted, or is unable to comply with these terms and conditions, ACS reserves the right to offer the prize to the runner-up selected by the judges

  30. Confirmation of the prize will also be made in writing to the winner

  31. Failure to respond and/or provide an address, or failure to meet the eligibility requirements may result in forfeiture of the prize


The artist covenants that any artwork submitted to the Artists’ Collecting Society Studio Prize 2022 shall not violate any of the following:


  1. Be false or misleading

  2. Be fraudulent or involve the sale of counterfeit, stolen or infringing items

  3. Infringe or misappropriate any third party’s copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary right or rights of publicity or privacy

  4. Violate any law, statue, ordinance or regulation

  5. Be defamatory, libellous, unlawfully threatening, or providing assistance involving violence, significant risk of injury or death, or other unlawful activities

  6. Must not contain child pornography
