The Artist's Resale Right (ARR) is a royalty generated on the sale price of original works of art that are sold on the secondary market.

There are currently more than 80 countries, including the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA) member states, whose visual artists benefit from ARR. The table below lists a selection of those countries. Please note the list is not intended to be exhaustive.

The organisations marked with a ‘△’ denotes either:

a. a society with which ACS holds a unilateral agreement

b. a society whose country possess a compulsory collective management system from whom ACS receives royalties

If a foreign collecting society’s commission is higher than 15%, where legally possible, ACS will always collect directly from Art Market Professionals in that country. When a foreign collecting society’s commission is equal to or higher than 15% ACS does not deduct further commission. This ensures that the artist or estate is never charged more than is absolutely necessary.

For specific information about ACS’ relationship with any society listed below please contact a member of the ACS team here.
