Alexander Talbot Rice is one of the very few artists to have been classically trained at both The Florence Academy of Art in Italy and The Repin State Academy of Fine Art in St Petersburg, Russia. Notably, Alexander is the first Englishman to have been awarded the Honour of Professor Emeritus by the Repin Academy.
Alexander’s work is known for capturing the personality, humanity and character of his subjects. He paints in a naturalistic, figurative tradition but his training, distilled through his own technique, makes his work instantly recognisable and unique.
As an artist Alexander Talbot Rice is trusted, which is why he has enjoyed so many repeat commissions. For example, he has painted three portraits of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, one of which for his Royal Highness’s own collection at Buckingham Palace.
