Anthony Amies
(1945 — 2000)
Educated at Great Yarmouth College of Art in the 1960’s and later at the Slade School of Fine Art, Amies excelled and went on to win the Tonks Prize for drawing at the Slade and the Royal Commonwealth Prize in 1968. Amies’ works are diverse, ranging from natural observations, landscapes and seascapes. Anthony Amies had a passion for life and continued exhibiting throughout his career. He received the Arts Council Award in 1977 and worked teaching art in Camden from 1973-1995 at the Camden Institute and the Camden School of Art.
