Carl Giles
(1916 — 1995)
Carl Giles is still remembered today as the humorous cartoonist. Giles quickly gained notice among the collectors and his illustrative work quickly achieved national appeal. He disciplined himself to only working 3 days a week so as to find time for his other hobbies. This sometimes made him unreliable and unprofessional however he was invaluable to the Express. Giles’s success was mostly due to the Express Newspaper for which he worked for over 50 years.
