Tilly Willis lives and works in rural Somerset in South West England and comes from an artistic family. Her grandfather was the renowned cartoonist H.M.Bateman and her father and sister are both successful practising artists.
A passion for travel has taken her to remote parts of the world, particularly Africa, which provides her with a constant source of inspiration for her evocative paintings of the people and places she encounters. She regularly visits family in Senegal, West Africa, using her trips to paint and gather ideas for future work.
She became a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 1997. An established portrait painter, Tilly also loves to paint quirky still lives, interiors and landscapes.
She now enjoys international popularity due to the extensive publication of her work as prints, cards, calendars and book illustrations.
