Anna Gillespie: Dwelling at the Gallery Steel Rooms
August 15, 2018
ACS member Anna Gillespie’s current exhibition Dwelling, at Gallery Steel Rooms, responds to issues that are central to current affairs, as well as recent, modern and ancient history, through its consideration of the lived experience of humans seeking and inhabiting place.

It features two large-scale sculptural installations, among works inspired by the current conflict in Syria and sensitive 2-D works, to explore issues of migration, displacement and diaspora, and human relationships to geography, memory and place.

ARTVISIT is an arts organisation that specialises in short films about current and thought-inspiring art. In its latest documentary, the organisation visits Gillespie’s studio to explore duality and opposites in life through art.

The seven-minute film seeks to answer whether one can be both strong and vulnerable and whether it is possible for beauty to coexist within the foul? You can watch the film on the ARTVISIT site here.

Dwelling runs until 1 Sept
