Frank Auerbach and Lucian Freud Included in 'Self' at Turner Contemporary
February 15, 2015

For centuries, artists have been recreating their image and the self-portrait has played a key role in shaping Western art. The exhibition ‘Self’ at the Turner Contemporary in Margate examines the role of self-portraiture in a world where ‘selfies’ have become everyday expressions and ‘Britishness’ is being redefined.

The exhibition reflects on artists’ self-portraits through a display of over 100 works, mostly from the National Portrait Gallery, including important portraits by ACS members Frank Auerbach and Lucian Freud.
