In 1977, Lillian Browse and William Darby took on the lease of 18 Cork Street, a building previously managed by Roland, Browse & Delbanco, who had specialised in 19th and 20th century art since the mid 1940’s. Their inaugural exhibition included ten figurative paintings by ACS Member, Euan Uglow, whose work has since been supported by Browse and Darby. Today, Browse and Darby champion the mastery of a number of figurative painters including works by ACS Members, Anthony Eyton, Lindy Guiness, Paul Maze, Craigie Aitchison, Elizabeth Blackadder, Lucian Freud, Simon Bussy, William Coldstream, John Nash and Augustus John.
