ACS members in Creative Tensions at Penlee House
October 2, 2019
The latest exhibition at Penlee House Gallery & Museum focuses on a group of ‘rebel’ artists who in 1949 broke away from the famed St Ives Society of Artists to form their own modernist alternative.
Creative Tensions marks the 70th anniversary of this seismic event, and explores the effect that its founding members (including ACS members Barbara Hepworth and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham) went on to have on 20th-century British art.
