Featuring a number of the largest ceramic pieces made by the artist to date, the solo exhibition, ‘Letters Home’, envelops visitors in a monochromatic space of quiet contemplation. Close inspection reveals the surfaces of de Waal’s works to be inscribed with excerpts from key poetic texts, reflecting, in the artist’s own words, an ‘attempt to feel both the breath of separation and the pulse of connection. To bring us closer to touch, to home.’
