Carter was one of the most distinctive literary voices of the past century and the works of the artists featured in the exhibition echo the writer’s recurring themes of feminism, mysticism, sexuality and fantasy.
Spanning a wide time frame, they include paintings, sculptures, drawings, installation, printmaking and film. The exhibition also includes illustrations from Carter’s books, manuscripts, photographs and personal artefacts relating to the writer.
