Talk: Sigmund Freud and the Sculptor Oscar Nemon
April 13, 2025
‘Someone is making a bust of me, the sculptor Oscar Nemon. The head which the gaunt, goatee-bearded artist has fashioned from the dirt is a very good and an astonishingly lifelike impression of me.’ - Sigmund Freud, July 1931.
The Freud Museum will be hosting an illustrated talk held by ACS member Oscar Nemon’s daughter, Lady Aurelia Young, later this month.
Tracing the sculptor’s dramatic journey from Croatia to England in the 1930s, Lady Young will reveal how Sigmund Freud was persuaded to sit for the young and relatively unknown sculptor, along with many other notable sitters Nemon would later go on to depict.
Tickets are available through the Freud Museum Website.
