Works by ACS members Juno Calypso and Mat Collishaw are currently on display as part of 'Best Self', a group exhibition curated by contemporary artist Polly Morgan at Brooke Benington.
Exploring the fluid nature of identity and self-image, the show highlights the psychological weight of performance and the tensions between appearance and authenticity. Bridging centuries, Collishaw’s digital reimagining of Elizabeth I’s ‘Armada Portrait’, ‘The Mask of Youth’, and Calypso’s distorted photographic portrait, ‘Silent Retreat’, reveal how the pressures of perfection have long shaped and continue to shape our construction of self-image.
