Flora’s Cloak at Huxley-Parlour, Wiltshire

Works by ACS members Xanthe Burdett, Nettle Grellier and the winner of the 2020 ACS x Palazzo Monti Residency, Jane Hayes Greenwood, are currently on display at Huxley-Parlour’s Wiltshire gallery space as part of an ongoing group showcase entitled Flora’s Cloak.
The exhibition sees the artists draw on both personal and universal mythologies to reimagine the relationship between body and nature. Employing figuration as a vehicle through which to explore the interconnected cycles of growth, decay, fertility and ritual, the show looks to reject utopian ideals in favour of visceral, complex expressions where the fluidity and rhythms of the natural world replace strict representation.
