Working with collage, drawing and paint, Austin constructs layered surfaces that evolve over long periods of time, creating compositions that are at once playful and precise. Scraps of packaging are pressed into surfaces and used as structural elements, their folds, creases and cut-outs shifting into unexpected visual architecture where the ordinary becomes charged with texture, rhythm and quiet intensity.
