Bringing together the work of over thirty international artists, the exhibition considers the overlooked histories of the ‘Tirailleurs’, soldiers recruited from French colonial territories who fought in the liberation of Europe during the Second World War. Through newly commissioned works, archival material and film, the show reflects on the impact the Tirailleurs had in securing peace, and how it continues to shape cultural memory and contemporary artistic practice today.
