Drawing on historical sea charts, celestial diagrams and Renaissance visions of the cosmos, Bejer brings together sea monsters, motorway junctions, ruined temples and self-portraits within imagined landscapes. The ACS member’s interest in reworking these historical sources also extends to their vivid use of colour, challenging what Bejer describes as the “idea of the past as very drab and muted” by drawing attention to the richness of sixteenth-century books and manuscripts.
